ANICETO DENTAL LIMITED EXAM

Limited Exam

A dental limited exam, also known as a problem-focused exam, is a targeted evaluation of a specific dental issue. Unlike a comprehensive exam, it focuses on a single problem area rather than the overall oral health. Here's what you can expect during a limited dental exam:

1. Discussion of Symptoms: You'll discuss the specific problem or discomfort you're experiencing with your dentist. This could be a toothache, a swollen gum, sensitivity, a cracked tooth, or any other specific oral issue.

2. X-rays: To get a clear view of the problem area, the dentist may take X-rays. This can help identify issues that aren't visible to the naked eye, such as decay inside a tooth, an abscess, or a problem with the root or bone.

3. Targeted Examination: The dentist will examine the specific area of concern. They may feel around the area with dental instruments, check for signs of decay, infection, or damage, and evaluate the severity of the problem.

4. Diagnosis: Based on the examination and X-rays, the dentist will diagnose the problem. This could be a cavity, gum disease, an abscess, a cracked or broken tooth, or any other dental issue.

5. Treatment Plan: The dentist will explain your treatment options based on the diagnosis. This might involve a filling, a root canal, extraction, or other dental procedures. They'll explain each option in detail, including the procedure, recovery, and costs.

6. Immediate Treatment: In some cases, if the problem is minor and the dentist has time, they may be able to treat the problem immediately. In our dental practice however,  we understand how problematic it might be to have a dental emergency, that’s why it is our priority to address it the same day.

Remember, while a limited exam is useful for diagnosing and treating specific problems, it doesn't replace the need for regular comprehensive exams, which are important for maintaining overall oral health.
